Amie Sutton, Early Careers Manager

I studied Business Management with Human Resources Management at Southampton University and once I had graduated, I joined the Hastings Direct HR scheme in 2012.

Hastings recognises the importance of recruiting and supporting early talent and my first placement was to use my experience of supporting the recruitment and organisation of the following year’s graduates. After two and half years, I secured a promotion as Customer Facing Recruitment Manager and also completed my Post Graduate Level 7 CIPD qualification which was funded by Hastings Direct. Early careers has always been my passion, particularly as I had been through the journey and after a short stint on maternity leave, I moved into the Learning & Development team in a role which focused on apprenticeships, placements, graduate schemes and work experience.

I’ve seen many graduates who join the business flourish working for Hastings Direct, the exposure to senior leaders and ability to work on projects that they can see makes a difference to the business is a real driver of people progressing either within their area of specialism or taking their transferable skills down a new route.
